Extractions

If a tooth is fractured or has a large cavity which cannot be restored, it may need to be extracted. Leaving a non restorable tooth in the mouth can put the surrounding teeth at risk and lead to an abscess that can spread to the rest of the body. A bone graft is often placed the same day to prevent the bone in the area from collapsing and losing adjacent teeth. Once a tooth has been removed, it is important to replace it with an implant, bridge, or removable denture to prevent adjacent teeth from shifting or jaw joint function from being affected.
